Both groups together worked on:

-Reviewed wadu, and  bathroom etiquetts. 

- Conditions for making salat: 1) Clean and purify heart and having the intention to do what you are doing for the sake of Allah. Clean heart includes: 1) not considering anyone or anything as worthy as Allah Almighty (ie.  shirk) . Because clean heart effects your actions and motivations. We must always start with considering the heart purification above all. 

Furthermore, you cannot claim to have a good heart but do bad actions. Bad actions such as gossiping, hurting others, being bad to parents…or even bad body language …

      2) Clean body from impurities (najas)   

       3) Clean place from impurities 

-  perfecting the salat, the meaning of salat: Salat is a way to thank Allah Almighty. Salat charges the Muslim five times a day to stay in contact with Allah Almighty. Salat helps the Muslim stay energized and motivated by reading Surah Alfatiha. Salat keeps Muslims away from depression and sadness.  How?

- Having the intention to pray reminds you that no matter what you are doing or what status you are in, Allah Almighty comes prior everything. You are for Allah, and Allahu Akbar (Allah is greater than anything).

- Starting with Allahu Akbar reminds you of being humble to your Lord Allah Almighty.

- Reading every word in Alfatiha:

BismiAllah Arahman Arahim: If it was not for Allah I would have never been able to live, start go on with my life.

Arahman Arahim: Calling Allah Almighty by His names: Most Merciful and Most Benificent takes you to the beauty of  mercies that Allah Almighty is even the creator of and higher than. So, feel the humility and servitude to Allah Almighty by calling him with the name Arahman Arahim…and owner of the universe(s), where everything belongs to Him alone…all worlds go back to Him alone. Remembering the wide universe(s), makes me feel the reality about myself in this world, so I will not turn to anyone but Him (Iyyaka na’budu wa iyaka nasta’een). Yet, where am I on the map of all these creations? Let us go further and say that everything on this universe actually goes under the command and system that He had created…all falls under thier command and worship. Oh Allah, we all worship you alone. So guide us to the right path. Guide us to the path of those who really were blessed to be your servants and not the path of those who thought what they were doing was right, but the reality was they were misguided. Ameen (Oh Allah Answer my prayers).

- Group Aysha: also reviewed reading surah Albaqara V. 6-10.

- Starters Group: reviewed all the letters that they had taken (i.e. أ- ز) and learned how to read words that have these letters. They then added the letters س، ش to them. Parents please have your children always review them, and always bring along thier packets.

- This group still has Alfatiha to work on, so far we reached the fourth verse of it. So help your children if they have not reached there.

We now have two groups that do different things and share some things.

Group A: (Sarah, Rasha, Arshi, Nuha, and Saad) are doing the letters in the packet. And so far they have reached the letter (س), some students were absent on Sept 3rd, so parents please keep your children up to date.

Group B (Aysha, Amina and Abida) are working on surah Albaqara with its exegsis. Yet, I do plan on changing them from Surah Albaqara to the short surahs for several reasons:

- Surah Albaqara is a Madani Surah which means that it concentrates alot on Jurisprudence. I think it would be better for thier age to concentrate on thier relation with Allah in terms of belief, spirtuality…etc. which is concentrated on in Maki surahs (i.e. short surahs).

- Short Surahs are easier for them to remember and learn.

- Short surahs are easier for them to start with since they have an idea about them, then we will move along – inshaa Allah towards the surahs that they have not learned yet.

Group A+B combined took the following in Islamic Studies:

- Wadu: Why we do it? How we do it? What invalidates it?

- Manners for using the bathroom and istinja (washing)

Note: Parents please have your children watch this video in order to learn the proper way of making wadu.

- Surah Alfatiha: The proper way of recitation. What it means? and how it relates to our life.  Group A is still memorizing the first 4 ayat and working on it.

Note: all this is an introduction to learning the complete way of making salat, and how it relates to our life. And certain rulings that relate to it.

- Because of Ramadan and Laylatul Alqadr: we spoke about the manners of duaa (invocation):

     – Humility for the sake of Allah

     – Raising our hands for making the duaa.

     - Calling Allah Almighty by his names – which we will be learning in the future inshaa Allah-

      – Choosing the best times for duaa such as: Laylatul Alqadr, Fridays, rainy days, when in need, when ill

       – Choosing the best places: Mecca, Madina and Almasjid Alaqsa.

- We had previously talked about fasting, why we fast, what we expect from Ramadan and inner descipline.

- Fitra and the story of religions: by going back to prophet Noh – peace be upon him-, to the other prophets going across the story of Salaman Alfarisi (Salman the prophet’s companion) and how he became Muslim.

More update on what we have done so far is to come inshaa Allah.

The class was divided into two groups: the first group working on the letters. They so far took the letters (أ، ب، ت، ث،ج، ح، خ)

Parents please make sure all the kids know those letters based on thier different shapes.

While this group is practicing on thier letters, the other group: (Aysha, Abida and Amina) would be working on the first part of Surah Albaqara while listening to its explanation.

Finally both groups learned wadu and are learning how to perfect thier salat with its meanings and rulings that concern both wadu and salat.
